How To Store Winter Clothes and Accessories Correctly

Spring has come, which means that it’s time to remove the warmest things before the next cold weather. We are sharing with you the main rules of safe storage of things in our new video from an expert.

Only a little bit remains until summer, which means it’s time to put away warm winter clothes and accessories away, until the next cold weather.

The change of seasons is the perfect time to minimize things, that is, look at each item for defects and resolve the issue of its relevance. Items that are irrelevant or unusable can be donated to charities or recycled.

All items for storage must be cleaned, so they must be washed and dried in advance. This will help you avoid unpleasant odors. When storing warm woolen items, place a moth repellent between them.

We carry some bags only in the cold season, so they can also be removed for now, having previously been cleaned and stuffed with crumpled paper, or by investing in special rates to avoid deformation. It is advisable to pack each bag in an individual bag, the so-called boot, they are often included with the purchase.

It is best to store non-seasonal items in the most inconvenient places in the apartment:

• top or bottom shelves of cabinets,
• mezzanine,
• bottom drawers of the chest,
• space under the bed.

If your closet has deep shelves, an expert recommends removing unused items in the very depths, and closer to the edge leave a place for things that you constantly use. The same principle works with high shelves: it is more convenient to put a box with unused items at the bottom, and store things on top for daily use.

Dust bags can be stored on shelves or on hooks. Another very convenient option is to store your bags in a special organizer, as shown in the video.

For storing off-season things, it is convenient to use wardrobe trunks and bags made of textiles, boxes, as they provide ventilation and protect from dust.

If you are short on storage space, use vacuum bags. But it is important to remember that for delicate things, for example, wool, cashmere, this option will not work.

If you don’t like folding and prefer hangers, store your scarves on tiered hangers that can be stowed away in a cover along with your outerwear.

In the event that in winter your things are stored in organizers, when the season changes, put them in wardrobe trunks right in the organizers. This will save you a lot of time.

Pick up the organizer by size. It is best to first take measurements from storage places and pick up organizers for each category of things.

You can fold winter accessories in different ways:

• Store the gloves in a pile or upright for better visibility.
• Hats and scarves can also be stored vertically or in a stack, or you can roll the scarves into rolls.
• Hats, scarves and gloves can be stored in sets in special boxes.
